Breast milk jewelry

BREAST MILK JEWELRY

There are many ways to get a truly special piece of jewelry. A special category of my memorial jewelry is breast milk jewelry.

A memory of a special time

Breast milk jewelry is a beautiful way to encapsulate memories of a special time that we can carry with us throughout life. With breast milk jewelry, we can keep our children very close, even if we no longer have them close in the physical position that breastfeeding often is.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding your child or bottle-feeding can be nothing short of magical, and being able to preserve a bit of that magic is fantastic. But there's also another side to the coin. We often forget that breastfeeding can be hard, and that most (if not all) mothers struggle with thoughts of not being “good enough”. Breast milk jewelry can encapsulate both the magic and the "hassle." My own breastfeeding journey was no walk in the park, so I know that breastfeeding isn't always easy. You can read about it here on this page.

How I create a gemstone from breast milk

I transform your breast milk into a gemstone exactly to your wishes. It generally happens like this.

You send about 10ml to me; you can read more about the details here

When I receive the breast milk, I dry it so that it turns into powder. Then I create the breast milk stone by mixing the powder together with a resin product called resinThis ensures that the powder is encapsulated and that the jewelry retains its color.

Shades of white

Did you know that breast milk adapts to the baby's needs via saliva and skin pores? It's so amazing, and in this way, the milk forms antibodies, for example, when the baby has a runny nose. For this reason, the milk also changes color many times throughout a breastfeeding period. When I make breast milk jewelry, I often see the difference. Even if the milk has all sorts of shades of white, they all end up as beautiful white stones.

I go the extra mile for you

My own journey to Wrapped Jewels was paved with bad experiences in the hunt for a keepsake of my own breastfeeding journey. So it means the world to me that I hit exactly what my customers expect and desire. Feel free to contact me with your special wishes.

My breastfeeding journey

I have two daughters who have been breastfed. When I was pregnant, like many others, I didn't have the experience that breastfeeding could be difficult and problematic. I took it as completely natural that I would breastfeed, follow the recommendations for 6 months, and that was that.
But after a long pushing phase, I gave birth to a daughter with low blood sugar. The midwife gave me an ultimatum; "nurse now or she'll need formula." Anyone who has given birth can probably understand the pressure I felt. Like dew before the sun, the romantic idea of a baby crawling to the breast itself disappeared. I got a nipple shield, and then the pressure was on.
Fortunately, we quickly got rid of the nipple shield, but my wish to be checked to ensure good technique was non-existent because it "looked fine" with the shield... Then we came home, and for the first five weeks, many tears were cried and heads were banged against the wall because my daughter's technique was completely wrong, leading to much pain.

A symbolic commemoration
Nevertheless, I ended up breastfeeding until she self-weaned at age 4. I needed to create a symbolic commemoration that could conclude that fantastic, yet truly difficult, process. It turned out to be the first step with Wrapped Jewels.

It is my experience with the ups and downs of breastfeeding that has given me the greatest recognition and empathy for many of my customers when they wish to have jewelry created from, for example, breast milk.
